The two token regimes, and why the difference matters

Authorised today

E‑money tokens (EMT)

EURY, PLNY and USDY. Backed one‑for‑one, redeemable at par on demand, and legally prohibited from paying interest. This is the strongest holder protection MiCA offers.

In development

Asset‑referenced tokens (ART)

The planned gold, silver and money‑market products. Backed by assets that move in price, so no redemption at par and no protection against the underlying falling.

One perimeter

Who holds what, and who answers for it.

Most neobanks sit on somebody else's licence: a partner bank holds the money, a third party issues the token, a processor moves the payment. Each takes a cut and each can say no.

Here the app, the tokens, the reserves and the licence sit inside one supervised entity. When something goes wrong there is one party accountable for it, and a regulator that can act.

Safeguarded, not insured Balances are safeguarded under e‑money rules — held apart from our own funds so they are not available to our creditors. They are not bank deposits and are not covered by any deposit‑guarantee scheme. Those are different protections and it matters which one you have.

Questions we get from compliance teams

Which register shows the authorisation?

The Finanstilsynet register of authorised electronic money institutions, under reference 17547. The notified tokens appear in the ESMA MiCA registers.

Who is the MLRO?

A named money laundering reporting officer is in post at Olbra ApS and answers to the Danish supervisor. Contact details are available to counterparties during diligence.

Are the whitepapers published?

Yes — the notified MiCA whitepaper for each of EURY, PLNY and USDY is published as a PDF, linked from the footer of every page. That document is the one that binds us.

What happens if Olbra fails?

Reserve assets are safeguarded separately from company funds, so they are not available to our general creditors. Holders retain a claim on those safeguarded assets. This is not the same as deposit insurance and does not protect against every outcome.
